THE FARM in Allen, located in the fastest growing area of the DFW metroplex, is a 135 acre, mixed use development that caters to the communities around it.
The land has been a north Texas farm throughout its entire history. Acres of prairie grasses waving in wind along with fields of cotton were common for many years. The property has been owned by the Johnson family since 1964 and served not only as a working farm but also a great place for family to gather and enjoy the laid back relaxation of being in the “country”, hiking through the woods and exploring the Watters Creek area full of beaver and other wild life. The farm was also the site to a number of church picnics and community events. It is those relaxed, back to nature, unique memories that the Johnson family and JaRyCo Development have used as guidance in the creation of THE FARM in Allen.
When fully built out, THE FARM in Allen will contain office, urban residential, senior living, retail, corporate headquarters, townhomes, lofts, restaurants and entertainment uses. In addition to the project development, however, will be numerous amenities designed specifically for the communities that surround it. Family friendly parks, hike and bike trails throughout with interesting surprises along the way, a lake with overlook seating and dining, play areas and nature trails will be found throughout the development. Over 32 acres of open space will be provided, including the 16-acre greenbelt area along Watters Creek, which will remain a natural wooded area very similar to what it has been for decades.
Ultimately, over 4,000 people will live at THE FARM. Daytime employment in office and retail/entertainment businesses is expected to exceed 6,000 people. Whether you are living at THE FARM, working at THE FARM, shopping at THE FARM or just came by to enjoy the open space and relaxed lifestyle, we hope you leave with the same memories so many others have over the years of life on THE FARM.

JaRyCo Development, an Allen based commercial real estate development company, has teamed with the Johnson family to develop The Farm in Allen. The project has been designed based on the needs of the surrounding communities. JaRyCo has completed 14 projects in Allen, and both Bruce Heller, President of JaRyCo, and the Johnson family are long-time local citizens. The project has been designed as a family- friendly, family-focused, small town environment with unique features and businesses that will attract repeat visitors.
The land was purchased by Bob Johnson Sr. and his wife Doris in the 1960’s from a neighboring farmer, at a time when Allen’s population was less than 5,000. The Johnson Family initially used the land for raising cattle and growing wheat, corn and hay. In the 60s, Highway 121 was a two-lane black top road used primarily to travel to Ft. Worth, and Alma Rd was not paved. “As a family that has owned the property across four generations, we are excited to begin transferring this special family legacy to future generations in Allen” said Bob Johnson.
JaRyCo Development LLC was created in 2001 by Bruce R. Heller, who saw an opportunity to pursue development in a manner not common within the industry. With more than 41 years of experience in the design, construction and development of major real estate projects, Heller leads JaRyCo to focus on finding development opportunities which truly make sense from a long-term business perspective, both from an investment standpoint and most importantly from the end user standpoint. Since its founding, JaRyCo has completed a variety of project types including, office buildings, corporate headquarters, medical office buildings, specialty hospitals, office flex, hotels and land development. Over his career, Mr. Heller has been responsible for the development of nearly 4 million square feet of real estate with a total development cost of well over half a billion dollars. The Farm is the 15th project developed in the City of Allen by JaRyCo.
